Horley Men's 2nds traveled to a cold, wet and windy Croydon High School for their second leg against the CaOW 4th Team. A strong line up gave an air of confidence to the team, which showed throughout the game with HHC dominating much of the play. Skipper Chris Stevens won the toss and elected to take the pushback. Early forays into the CaOW half showed promise, with smooth sharp passing and movement off the ball. The deadlock was ended after 25 minutes when quick thinking and good vision from Abdul left Jon with a one on one with the CaOW keeper. Their keeper made a good effort to save but Jon managed to convert the opportunity to give the HHC the lead. The second half was more even with CaOW pushing forward with the hope of equalising. HHC continued to make forays into the CaOW D , and secured a number of short corners. Various options were tried, and eventually HHC increased their lead tghrough a deflected shot by Tony at the left post. CaOW continued to pressure the HHC defence, who held out against half a dozen short corners. CaOW frustration started to show with further errors and frayed tempers, and HHC could have made it three after a penetrating run from Chris Stevens and a pass across the mouth of the goal, but inches from the outstretch stick of Jon Thompson. A good result, enjoyed by all
