Disappointing loss for M2's

We had the luxury of a squad of 15, including young Tom and young Humza, both back for the weekend from university. We also welcomed Tom Harris to the team, and Sam Tester making his first league appearance in goal.

This was a game not so much of two halves, but of four quarters. Initially we were all over Leatherhead. Tom Harris scored early and could have had another. Several chances were missed. As we moved into the second quarter, Leatherhead clawed their way back into the game. From a long corner, they scrambled the ball into our D, where one of their forwards, facing away from goal, managed to hit it behind him and into the goal.

The second half started even more convincingly for us but, sadly, a good half dozen chances to score were missed. Once again, Leatherhead gradually began to assert themselves. A penalty corner led to a penalty stroke, which Leatherhead converted convincingly. The final quarter saw plenty of exciting end to end play, with both sides missing further opportunities. With less than five minutes remaining, Sam was left exposed as we pressed forward, and Leatherhead increased their lead.

A disappointing result, but we had again shown good skills and a positive intent, which will stand us in good stead for the weeks ahead
