Spirits not dampened by the rain.

Horley HC Griffins team got their first taste of competitive hockey, playing in the U12s Mercian Junior Hockey League festival hosted at Horsham HC, in rather wet weather conditions. The first match saw the newly formed Griffins find their feet against one of the several Horsham teams, and with 3 further games in quick succession they started to show some great teamwork and determination. With goalkeepers to overcome in 2 of the matches the scorelines were not in our favour, despite some great passes and shots on goal. The Griffins' persistence paid off against Cheam in a game that saw Horley keep a clean sheet and several of our players hitting the target to secure a convincing win. Growing in confidence with each game our juniors displayed some solid defending, quick pace in the midfield and excellent team and individual play in the attack.
Huge thanks to coach & manager Steve Innes for his encouragement and direction, and to the parents for their sideline support. Hopefully everyone got home, dry and warmed up quickly!
Well played to you all - a fanstastic start to your season.
