The game ended 3-3 in open play and it was goalkeeper Maddie Hinch that stole the show with a string of impressive saves to give GB the chance to win 2-0 in the shootout.
The outpouring of emotions from every hockey player and the incredible way the GB women have captured the hearts of this country is seeing a massive rise in coverage for the sport we all know and love. It is also starting to inspire people to pick up a stick and start playing hockey.
If you are one the newly inspired, and dream of reverse hitting goals like Alex Danson, skipping past players with the ease of Sophie Bray or putting up the blockers like Hinch, Horley would love to welcome you to our club at any of our pre-season training sessions on Tuesday nights from 8-9:30pm at Ifield Community College (Crawley, RH11 0DB). We are a small club, with great ambitions to grow and expand our club.
Over the next few years we are working to; increase our membership (and squads) for our men's, women's and junior sections; Improve our clubhouse through expansion of the existing building for a second floor and balcony; Build on our relationships within the local community of Horley and with Reigate & Banstead Council to support provision of an Astroturf pitch. Sounds great, but what can we offer currently though:
Full details on our club membership and how to join can be found in our new joiners section.
If you are keen to get started straight away, you can join our club by coming along to any of our sessions or a member of our recruitment team can contact you by telephone or email when it is convenient for you; please register your interest and we will get back to you - REGISTER HERE
